Description
Raw WA Sphalerite & Galena Hydrothermal Vein Matrix Specimen (850g)
If you love your crystals raw, heavy, and packed with high-contrast metallic energy, this specimen is an absolute showstopper.
Sourced directly from the rugged terrains of Western Australia, this massive 850g hydrothermal vein specimen is a textbook example of deep-earth mineralisation.
This isn’t just a single crystal. Instead, it is a self-contained geological ecosystem.
Millions of years ago, superheated, metal-rich fluids blasted through fractures in the ancient West Australian bedrock.
As the fluid cooled under immense pressure, it deposited layers of quartz and heavy metallic sulphides.
Consequently, it locked a miniature subterranean landscape into solid stone.
The Multi-Mineral Lineup:
-
Sphalerite (Zinc Ore) – As the star of the show, the main vein is packed with dense, deep chocolate-brown to ruby-black crystalline clusters.
These beautiful clusters flash with a gorgeous, high-lustre resinous sparkle.
-
Galena (Lead Ore) – Woven directly into the dark veins are sharp, ultra-reflective metallic silver highlights.
Therefore, they catch the light beautifully, resembling shards of ancient mirrors.
-
Chalcopyrite & Bornite – Rich, warm bronze and coppery accents frame the outer edges of the metallic pockets perfectly.
-
The Crystal Window – A stunning, geometric pocket of translucent clear quartz sits right in the centre of the vein. As a result, it creates a shadowy, moody optical illusion over the dark metallic bedding beneath.
-
The Matrix & Gossan – The vein is beautifully framed by a sugary white quartz girdle, which locks into an olive-green chlorite-altered matrix. If you flip it over, you will find a deep brick-red, earthy iron Gossan face.
This represents the famous “iron hat” that miners always looked for on the surface.
Our Raw WA Sphalerite & Galena specimen is truly one of those rare pieces that is not easy to find.
Because of its scarcity, it is a highly collectible crystal for any serious enthusiast.
